Sprint Car and IMCA/UMP Modified Masterpiece Series Answers

Postby imrdirtcars on Wed Sep 09, 2009 5:10 pm

We get a fair amount of emails from customers who want to know if we can do Sprint Car, IMCA Modified, or East Cost Modified replicas in the Masterpiece Series.

The short answer is no. At this point we cannot do anything but modern dirt late models.

Masterpiece Series cars aren't created 'on the fly', as every single part on the cars has to be sized to match every other part. The cars we produce now are a result of years of CAD work and 3D modeling, refining, and adjusting parts so they all work together perfectly.

Any new type of car would require the same amount of design work to take place, and we unfortunately don't have the resources right now to devote to new product development.

There are quite a few modelers out there who can build a sprint car replica for a customer as Revell/Monogram makes a very convincing model kit already.

We may create IMCA Modifieds sometime in the future, but there are some technical limitations we'll have to overcome before it can happen. Since Modifieds have a stock front clip, we'll have to cast that part in pewter, so we can solder the rest of the brass chassis to it. Moving to metal casting requires a big investment of many thousands of dollars. We will need to first investigate the market for a $1000+ Modified Masterpiece Replica. Unless we could sell 30-40 Modified Masterpiece Replicas annually, the amount of design work and material investment wouldn't be worthwhile.

I hope this clears things up for everyone.
