Here we go.. I snapped some photos this evening after work. The color is hard to photograph with my equipment, and looks a little different in person.

The paint should be durable, since it is sprayed with a two-part Urethane automotive clear. I always doubt the durability of hobby paints, and will definitely stick with Automotive Urethane's from now on.

Beautiful!! You know, I really don't like purple.......but a few guys that race around here have victory circle chassis, and I guess you can get it in any color as long as it's purple? But there is something about "his" purple that is kind of cool!

Hehe..

I think it's similar to Rayburns being mostly blue.. Bloomquists being black.

Victory Circles are more common out here in the west, but no purple.

I made some progress today, installing the cockpit, and most of the wiring. I'll add the battery tomorrow and its wiring, and i'll be able to start putting on the decking.

I also built a new fixture this evening. I got tired of having to individually place the jackstands like I did at first, and i didn't like the frame sitting on tires, that also needed to be re-adjusted each time i moved the frame for the picture.

So i built a brass fixture to hold the frames, primed it and shot it flat black. Now i can just move the frame any way i want, and it stays on the fixture. Looks pretty cool too!

I want to get this car to where the Wallace car is, then shift to the Mueller car, and get that up to that point as well.

Individual components, I can build in an assembly line type process, but painting and installation has to do pretty much one at a time. There are small variations between each car that I have to concentrate on individually.

That stand is pretty slick!! Is that something that will be available with the cars?? I plan on displaying mine on jackstands without the tires on it......I was going to use jackstands, but I kind of like that better.....it seems that the bigger teams are going to a jack similar to that now.....at least here in the midwest........just and aluminum frame, push a button and the entire car lifts up!!!

Mike,

I finally got a few minutes tonight to take a look at the website and I figured there would be some cool photos of the freshly painted Victory Circle replica frame to drool about. My younger son looked at the photos and said it looks like a real frame that was photographed in a studio. He's right, that's what it looks like.

I think the purple is cool and unique, but I'm biased. The photos make the frame almost look like it was anodized instead of painted which I like quite a bit.

Lots of good detail in the seat box too!

I'm not surprised that you made a custom stand and it's a nice addition. It definitely makes for a cleaner photo and it's got to be easier to work on than constantly having to relocate the stands and rebalance the whole replica. I'm a little old school in that I like the look of a race car sitting up on four jack stands in the pits prior to the feature. I have a lot of photos of late models prepped and ready just sitting on the stands.

Thanks again for taking the time to post the photos, Mike. I've saved them all.

I apologize for the delay in response, Michael has been very busy so I will post the reply for him. The stand was something that was spontaneously created, we did not anticipate a demand for them. Michael would have to take a look at cost in labor and parts and see how much they would be and if it is something that would be possible to create for the cars as an additional feature. Rest assured it is something that he will look into and when the time comes we will let you know if it will be available to purchase along with your car. Thank you for the support and interest, it is always appreciated! :)

Thanks Christina.......no problems with the delay....I understand.......If I can purchase one reasonably, then cool, if not, then that's ok....I just like the looks of it and it also looks like it has the "intersection" logo on it, thought that would be cool.....

I don't think the stand will be very expensive, though i won't have the exact figure until i do some calculations.

I thought i'd give some progress images of the Moyer Car, as i've now hung the rear end, and am working on getting the Mueller car up to speed with the other two cars.

I actually pulled the shocks that were on the car originally. The yellow springs didn't meet with my quality standards. The new shocks and springs look much, much better.

Work is going along great on all the cars. Christina has updated the galleries on the website itself with some updates of all 3 cars. Here are a couple i took today.

I've just about finished the front suspension on the Moyer car, just completing the brake lines. A cool feature to note is the transition between the flexible lines and the hard lines. I like how it works out, and will have this on all future cars.. This was the first car i tried this on.

There is a little too much toe-in on the Moyer for my liking, so i'll be adjusting it out before it's officially finished.

All three cars are pretty much at this point now.. And i'll be moving onto the powerplant for them next.

Thanks Scott.. I'm having a lot of fun with the cars. The production speed isn't quite where I want it yet, but i'm very happy with the quality.

I spent a lot of time with these cars taking step-by-step photos and writing instructions to speed future builds and hopefully hire some help. Having employees is something i'm working extremely hard to make a reality.

This slowed the production speed on the cars, but will likely pay big dividends for future builds.

Mike,

All I can say is WOW!!!

I'm really impressed with the new photos of the Moyer replica. It looks so real. I'm truly honored to be getting it.

It has to be hard to sell your artwork that you put so much into, but I'm really glad you do....

Many thanks.

We're getting close now, I'm getting excited to seeing them finished.

It is hard sometimes to let a car go, but I do take a lot of photos that I can look back at long after the car is gone.

I enjoy building cars that will be cherished by their owners.. and making a little money doing it is nice too!
