I got the outside body parts bent, primed, and painted for all 3 of the first batch of Masterpiece Series.. i'll post photos of them tomorrow when the paint is cured.
I snapped this photo this evening for a little insight.. I use a laser so i can get parts exactly where i want them in 3D space.. using a 2D line drawing. It helps me place parts really accurately. In this photo i'm markign where the rear body supports will be soldered to the Moyer Frame.
I also made a change to the cars tonight, and i'm glad i decided to do it. In the past, i've always had trouble with the rear deck support.. getting it exactly where it needed to be was really difficult.. i always had to kind of force the deck into place and bolt it in.. this put stress on the rear support and in a few cases caused it to snap off.. even though it's soldered on. In thinking "there has got to be a better way!", i realized there was.. Do it like the real ones do it. So i fabricated some new brackets. They are rough in the photo since they are the first ones i've done.. but basically what it will allow is for the rear deck support to rotate forward and back on the little clips, there's a little pin that goes through the whole assembly, through the hole in the support bar. This will remove the stress from the part and make it easier to mount up the deck. I think it looks pretty neat to boot!
Here it is on the real cars.
The Mueller Masterpiece Car will be the first one with this feature, as the Moyer and Wallace frames were complete before i thought of this change.
