Got my first feature win this weekend!

Postby timhollerbach96 on Tue Aug 25, 2009 5:53 pm

This doesn't have anything to do with the cars on here, but I wanted to share my good news with you guys! I got my first feature win this weekend!! There were 33 cars in attendance in my class, I won my heat race, started 2nd in the feature, took the lead on the first lap and led the entire race!! I won by a straightaway!! I've now won at least one of each race type (10 heat races, 2 dashes, 2 semi's, and now 1 feature)

Above is a link to the photo of my win....after that photo was taken, got back in the car and the battery was dead! Had to be pushed back to the claim area!

I'd say late model racin' has everything to do with the cars on this website!

Many congrats Tim.. and nice looking car.. I hope to race a late model of my own someday.. If i sell enough little ones.. maybe i can buy a big one! :)

.. and heck.. as long as the battery made it until the checkers, it's a good battery! ;) Pushing your car to the pits after a win is one thing.. having it pushed in the middle of the main is another.

thanks, that was my dad and I's thought, what if the battery would have lost enough power to quit sparking the plugs!! I apparently had just enough power to do that, but not enough to turn the motor over......hahaha.......I guess I better buy a new one!!

Tim,

Awesome! You only get your first feature win once. The battery issue only makes it more memorable!

I've been to I-55 several times over the years and that's a tough field of weekly Sportsman cars, so it's no walk in the park winning there. Do you run Tri-City, Belle-Claire or anywhere else on Friday or Sunday?

HPD, Thanks a lot man.....you're right, I-55 is a tough place to win at, which is what makes it so exciting for me.......we always have the top cars in the nation racing there every weekend, and it's TOUGH!! I race at Tri-City when they have our class, that is an awesome track, I wish they'd have us every weekend, I'd race there every Friday.....I've never raced at Belleville, I never bought a gear that I could run there......I'm on a tight budget, I can't see spending $600 for a gear that I can only run at one track (and not every weekend)......I own 3 gears, and all three of them can be used multiple places........but Belleville is a neat little bullring, I'd love to race there! Some guys have offered me to borrow gears to race there, but never taken them up on the offer.... Around here I've run Montgomery County, Highland, Fredericktown and Farmington, but that's about it.....

Tim,

I was at Tri-City back on the Memorial Day weekend after the Show-Me for the Lucas Oil race there. I'm pretty sure I've seen you race either there or at I-55, maybe at Highland. Can't remember for sure.

Makes sense not to spend an extra $600 just to run the Belleville track. It is a cool little place though. I've been to both Montgomery County and Highland and like both of those tracks too. I've read that Montgomery County is for sale now. Too bad, that's a nice place. Hopefully someone picks it up.

I've seen the St Francois Raceway, but never been to a race there. I hear they had a bad accident there last week and a track worked was killed. Very sad. That looks like a nice facility. Never been to Fredricktown Raceway at all.

There are so many good racetracks in Missouri and Illinois, especially around St Louis. If I could, I would move there in a heartbeat.

Here's to two in a row this weekend Tim!

HPS, I was at St. Francios Raceway (farmington) the night that happened......just spectating......a group of people were standing at the entrance to turn 3, a sprint car flipped and landed on them.....killing one person.......the driver was injured also. Was that race at Tri-City the one that got the entire late models show in and then rained out? If so, yes I was there....but if you've been to I-55 in the last 5 years, you've seen me there! Your right, we're blessed with many race tracks here in STL!! Best place to live if you ask me......there are also a million great tracks within a 3 to 4 hour drive of here also.......no shortage of tracks to go to.....if one rains out, if you're willin' to drive a few hours, can see another race!

Mike, the IMR karma didn't work this week!! I was the pinball in both the heat and semi, after being beat around, I pulled in, I had enough (plus a power steering line blew out).....only straight part is the nose, and that's cause I didn't hit anyone!!! Oh well, the chicken one week, feathers the next, as my grandpa always says!
